The $25 Million Campaign for The King's College
The King’s College is pleased to announce a $25 million campaign to launch the College on a path to self-reliance and expansion. Toward this goal, the College has raised $16 million during the silent phase of the campaign.
“We are at a very exciting moment in our history,” said Andy Mills, chairman of the board of trustees. “For 12 years we have labored to reach a point where we could forge our own path and realize our mission of shaping leaders and influencing culture in a dramatic way.”
In conjunction with the Board of Trustees, President Dinesh D’Souza specified five objectives for the campaign.
First: to bring leading scholars from around the world to King’s and use the College as a platform to advance Christianity and liberty in the public sphere. The College has already brought in top thinkers like economist Brian Wesbury, philosopher Dallas Willard, theologian Wayne Grudem, and others through the Presidential Scholars program.
Second: to institute a scholarship fund to enable bright, but underprivileged students to attend King’s. Every year, hundreds of capable, qualified students are unable to attend King’s because of financial need. The campaign will help King’s to enroll and train more future leaders.
Third: to achieve financial independence so that the College can become independent from its parent organization Campus Crusade for Christ International (CCCI) and chart its own course in the years ahead. Since the reopening of the College in 1999, CCCI has been a faithful partner, financially and missionally, in accomplishing God’s work in The King’s College.
Fourth: to develop a new online initiative that carries the educational mission of King’s throughout the country and the world. King’s recognizes that as tuition rises, online education becomes increasingly attractive. This market shift presents a unique opportunity to create a world-class online educational experience that carries the most important ideas and "the best that has been thought and said" to a global audience.
Fifth: to hire outstanding new faculty and also expand our business and entrepreneurship program as a force for good and for God in the heart of New York City. As an advocate for free markets and the moral case for capitalism, the College will provide expanded resources and opportunities for educating leaders who will shape and lead businesses both in New York and around the world.
The campaign will help the College to meet the demands of a growing student body, to establish the new Manhattan campus, and to hire additional, outstanding faculty members.
The King’s College educates students in the ideas upon which nations rise and fall. With a focused curriculum in the liberal arts tradition, students are prepared to help shape, and eventually to lead, the institutions of government, civil society, media, law, business, education, the arts, and the church. King’s is a Christian college located in New York City.
